Sheriff's Contracts in Washington State

This is a private site that is in no way associated with the State of Washington or any other government affiliated agency.  The contents here are provided as a public service to the non-custodial parents of Washingon State in the hopes of improving the relationship between them and their children.

"To Protect and to Serve" its a motto we have all heard and we know it belongs to the local police.  We grow up learning to respect the brave men and women in uniform that protect us from thieves, robbers, muggers, murderers.  And for a good reason, they have a dangerous job protecting the public.  THey are also utilized by the courts to provide service of process for legal documents, and arrest warrants.

What shatters our respect for these officers is finding out that they have financial incentives from a state agency to provide a higher level of service to them than to other citizens.  Hard to belive, isn't it.  But it is true, we have a state agency that is paying to get their own brand of justice by way of having their own staff of police officers that are hired for the sole purpose of ensuring their brand of justice is doled out ahead of any other legal issues.  In 2007, the King County Sheriffs office will be paid $1.8 Million dollars for this work by 4 sheriffs deputies.  Thats only a cost of $450,000 per officer.  Since the officers are not being paid that much, one has to wonder what other incentives are provided to County along with this payment.

Ever tried to pay a police officer to get special favors.  There are laws against it in Washington State.
